Bringing New Life To Failed Projects

There is a problem we have witnessed first-hand far too many times. Well-intentioned clean water projects—planned too quickly or lacking proper oversight—fail and become nothing more than a landmark of what used to be.

MissionCleanWater was created to change this. We provide the training and resources necessary for communities to maintain their water systems for years to come.

We believe in a future where everyone has access to safe drinking water. Let’s make it a reality.

The Problem

Many rural clean water points, especially hand pumps, were installed without considering the community’s unique needs. Organizations often rush to complete as many projects as possible, resulting in critical oversights. Poor materials, inadequate training, and lack of organization contributing to system failures and abandonment.

The Solution

Since 2019, MissionCleanWater has put its grassroots values into action by creating or rehabilitating water projects for over 49 communities, 65,000 residents, and 5,000 students across North Central Uganda.

Our water projects are equitably distributed throughout communities and built using high-quality materials with professional management. We help train and organize local communities, including the establishment of locally governed Water User Committees.

New Developments

The global water community and the Ugandan government have noticed our efforts. We are now collaborating directly with the Ugandan government in an innovative program to implement best practices throughout our area. We hope this will become a model for other water nonprofits around the world.

As an team we will oversee water systems for three districts in our area –– serving 500,000 people.

We are working toward the goal of ensuring every community has:

  • A functioning water system with high-quality parts.

  • A strategy for local water governance.

  • Community training for diagnostics and maintenance.

  • Ongoing support from our team.

This is being accomplished by:

  • Maintaining a supply chain of high quality materials to ensure repairs can happen within 24 hours.

  • Completing monthly in-person inspections to understand impact, water quality, and community governance.

  • Work with communities to continually build new best practices.
