Jelel/Atiira

The Jelel/Atiira project was completed in the fall of 2021 to develop a sustianable clean water source for both communities and their shared elementary school.

The passion To move forward

Resting in a grassland, Jelel and Atiira are two communities of farmers, teachers, and nurses that work at a local hospital. They have always relied on small hand-dug wells throughout their community for clean water. All of these sources are dirty, shared with animals, and risk the health of the community. For the dry season, a majority of their water sources go dry––forcing them to walk up to 3 hours to find water or travel 3 miles to the closest clean water source.

A community working together

Jelel/Atiira has shared their challenges with water insecurity and are ready for a better solution.

A Shared Resource

The main hand dug well is shared with animals, covered in algae, and goes dry for 6 months out of the year.
