Hiking 3,100 miles to accomplish his Triple Crown
My name is Elliot “Beats” Pacheco. Born in Puerto Rico and raised in NJ. As a kid growing up, I was always very athletic and played almost every sport in school. I found a passion in the sport of wrestling, which taught me lessons in discipline and accountability that carried over into my addiction to Thruhiking. When I began backpacking, I had zero experience other than just being out for the day at most.
After my completion of the Appalachian Trail during a record rain year in 2018 from Georgia to Maine, I knew I had stumbled upon something that would give me the direction in life that I had been searching for. In 2019 I completed a northbound thru-hike of the Pacific Crest Trail during a record snow year.
This year, I will attempt a northbound Thruhike of the Continental Divide Trail to complete the Triple Crown of hiking, a feat less than 1,000 people have ever done in the history of backpacking and maybe the 3rd person of color to ever do so as well. My drive to diversify the trail will be fueled both by my passion for the outdoors and my intent to support the Mission Clean water objective.
Hiking the Continental Divide Trail would be impossible without clean water. This is why Beats is raising $3,000 for clean water.
What is the Continental Divide Trail?
The Continental Divide Trail is a 3,100-mile-long trail that gives thru-hikers an authentic mountain backcountry experience that can not be accomplished anywhere else. Thru-Hikers will navigate 5 states and connect with communities along the spine of the Rocky Mountains.
For Beats he will be traveling northbound or what’s also called “Nobo.” This means he will start on the Mexico/USA border on April 1st and finish on the USA/Canada border.

Montana/Idah0 (1030 miles)
The “Big Sky Country,” where hikers experience it all. From open prairies, rocky mountains, and a carved landscape. Hikers cross glaciers, follow Lewis & Clark’s footsteps, and see a big blue sky.
Wyoming (500 miles)
The Cowboy State is a gem many hikers do not realize. Adventure awaits in the Wind River Range and Yellowstone National Park. Rivers have cut the landscape forever creating beautiful passes used by early pioneers.
Colorado (740 Miles)
The CDT travels through the Rockies most incredible peaks. The highest point accomplished is 14,270ft. Hikers travel through remote forests, snow covered mountain tops, ghost towns, and remnants of the gold rush.
New Mexico (820 Miles)
The CDT extends into “The Land of Enchantment” of New Mexico. Dramatic deserts of adobe architecture, ancient civilizations, and red rock cliffs give hikers a unique desert hiking experience.
Why Clean Water?
Completing The Appalachian Trail would not be possible without clean water. Dan is going to dedicate his hike to make sure more people in the world can have access to clean water. Help him reach his goal of $3000.
